The benchmark program so far as visual effects go is more a beta version of what you will really see in the game. while you want it to look good it is not a finished product.just look at the lack detail in the faces.they all look like cake fondant pulled over a skull(except the galka). if the becnhmarks are any indication of system requirements, a lot of you will need to upgrade your comps to get smooth play from them. i can play CRysis at max graphic setting as well as Dragon Age. But the benchmark maximum score in ff14 is 8000.running the low res test i got 3734 and high res test 2274.turning off antivirus didnt make a difference.

my comp

cpu: AMD phenom II 920 Quad core 2.8 ghz
video: Nviadia GTX 260 with 896 meg mem
system memory: DDR2 3.2 gig XP, 4 gig vista
HD: 250 gig sata XP, 500 gig sata Vista dual boot

you do need the lastest dx9.0c drivers which you can get at this link

and the latest video drives as well

Speaking of FFXIV.. Any of you that are in the beta.. I saw mention of a torrent for the beta client on Blugartr but… No actual link anywhere. Searching on google I only found "fake" torrents. The download speed on the official downloader sucks balls, fluctuating from 0b/s to maybe 40kb/s.. Then, after you've spent over 24hrs downloading and are at around 30%, it times out and you have to start over..

Hey, so it's just like a normal FFXI release! SE never learns.

The beta isn't optimized software. Everything about it screams debug mode, and based upon the performance jump from the alpha to beta, there will probably be a gigantic boost in performance from beta to rc. Also, they capped the framerate at 30 again.

I only got a 3500 on low resolution on the benchmark, but the beta client itself pretty much stays >25fps. The only time it drops is when there are 50 other people around me or if I run around certain parts of the city. That is to say, the benchmark is useless.

And eli, you can get a gigantic boost in download speed if you enable uPNP on your router or if you forward ports 55296 to 55551.

You also need to enable protocol encryption and disable any legacy connections to your bit torrennt client. Its not an issue from SE. Any and all ISPs down throttles all bit torrent traffic they can identify.

Hm. Ok.

And well.. If I could change anything in the official downloader I would.

Stop cheating!!!

What I meant was that the official downloader uses ports 55296-55551, so if they are not forwarded through the router, download speed will be lower since the client will instead try to download from SE's cdn, which is slow as dog shit.
