Hey everyone, I just wanted to say I'm not dead!

However, I've probably played my last and final days in FFXI. I had a blast coming back and catching up, I loved the ease of small group play and finding that Senkei was just as awesome as it ever was. A few people were tremendously gracious and helpful beyond any expectation.

But I let this game absorb me, stress me out, and start to hurt my marriage. I get addicted to MMOs when I'm having fun and I find myself not enjoying the rest of my life when I'd rather be home playing something I'm so psyched about. I would get stressed about missing an event or not being on for a run, trying to work my evenings around meeting up with an ls mate to farm or clear something, rushing to finish an empy before SoA, not getting Dyna done every single day… I always just wanted to have more time to play, at the expense of what was really important to me.

It was abrupt and sudden, that I just stopped logging in and killed my subs, without saying goodbye. Probably for the best honestly. Mizina has existed for 10 years off and on, so it's very hard to imagine not playing FFXI again. I've been much more relaxed lately and free to enjoy other things that I easily put off for the sake of having time for FFXI.

Hyaku, Thorn, X, Xti, Cham, I owe you all a lot for your selfless generosity. I had a really fun time playing again thanks especially to you guys and I hope that somehow, somewhere I'm able to repay you. And thanks to everyone else that welcomed me back so kindly and offered assistance where they could. FFXI is one hell of a uniquely social game, you'll never find nicer people anywhere else.

It is probably for the best because as it stands right now, XI is (I think anyway) in a state of limbo after the last SoA update. New content is literally the only thing people shout for regularly, and all the old stuff is obsolete in a huge way. Every mfer in shell just about has disappeared off the face of the planet without a word, and only a handful of us are on at any given time, so even the future of the shell's existence is a constant question. Coming back for anyone, or starting a new character, is terribly demanding, and you're more or less forced to play catch up. So not good at all.

Aside from Xti and myself, none of the other guys check forums at all, so I will pass on your thanks to them (except Thorn, he quit too). Best of luck to you and pay attention to your pretty wife because women who know how to make a good pansit or loompya are hard to find.

Thanks for the update, sounds like it would have been that much worse not being able to catch up on all the old content anymore. Good to hear it was for the best to head out.

I am definitely minding the pretty wife these days, and I'm really happy. She makes some good food for sure. I'll be around the site, maybe XIV will be worth it and a little more casual if you guys end up there. Take care man, still owe you a beer if you ever get over that serial killer paranoia.
